The Yorp system allows you to protect areas of your site, only allowing access to selected users — validated by you to whatever degree you require, from personal approval, to email validation, to "all comers" — or groups of users, created with specific permissions to access different areas. The system is lightweight but powerful, allowing users to change their passwords and contact information at any time, simply and without needing to contact the administration as other systems require. Users will be asked to sign up or log in when they attempt to enter a protected area of the site. One account is valid for the entire site, but administrators can assign rights to any, all, or none of the sections to individual users or groups for total flexibility. The system is totally transparent — once a user is logged in, browsing in a section they have access to appears to happen just like any other web page. You can build your site in just the same way you always have, with images, Flash, HTML pages, and PHP code working as usual, you can administrate your site the same as always. There are no ugly login prompts, just friendly web pages customisable to look like the rest of your site. Yorp is ideal for providing content on a subscription basis, or just for keeping parts of your site as members-only. With its flexibility, you can mix-and-match any combination of access rights to handle several differently protected areas with ease. To recap: protect any number of directories, allowing access to any combination of them to users or groups of users. Looks just like the rest of your site, no ugly HTTP logins and you don't need to change anything about how you work - you can administrate your site by FTP if you want.
